Saptak Sen is Senior Product Manager at Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/default.aspx) Corporation where he is driving evolution of Technical Computing Strategy by working and interacting with customers, partners and competitors to identify trends and business opportunities.
Topic 2: Big Data Analytics in a Heterogeneous World
Big Data Analytics is characterized by analysis of data on three vectors: exploding data volume, proliferating data variety (relational, multi-media), and accelerating data velocity. However, other key vectors such as costs and skill set needed for Big Data Analytics are often overlooked. In this session, we will consider all five vectors by exploring various techniques where traditional but progressive technologies such as column store DBMS and Event Stream Processing is combined with open source frameworks such as Hadoop to exploit the full potential of Big Data Analytics.

Speaker Bio:
Joydeep Das is a Director of Analytics Product Management at Sybase (http://www.sybase.com/) Inc, an SAP company.
Joydeep has worked in the field of enterprise databases for over 20 years in leadership roles in engineering and product management. As an engineer, Joydeep led several R&D projects in leading DBMS firms like Sybase & Informix. He was also awarded a patent for his R&D work at Sybase. In hisproduct management role, Joydeep has been a strong advocate of Sybase’sData Warehousing product line in setting its product and business strategy and managing its day-to-day operations. Joydeep is a frequent speaker at tradeshows, user conferences, and webcasts.
