A VALUED CUSTOMER OF THIRDEYE DATA

The Forum Group: turning hundreds of resume formats into one

The Forum Group is a veteran owned firm that has led in professional staffing, vendor management and financial consulting since 1974. Staffing runs on candidate documents, and candidate documents arrive in every format a person has ever chosen to use. Before a recruiter can do the work that adds value, somebody has to make those documents comparable.

Automated resume format conversion

Reformatting resumes into a house standard is work that has to be done, adds nothing on its own, and consumes a meaningful share of a recruiting team’s time. It is also difficult to automate with rules, because the variation is not in the data but in how people choose to present themselves. Two candidates with identical experience will structure it completely differently.

The Forum Group worked with ThirdEye Data to solve it using large language models, which handle that kind of variation far better than pattern matching does. We deployed Optira, our own document intelligence platform, to meet their specific requirement.

Optira now processes hundreds of resumes arriving in a wide range of formats and produces them in the standard format The Forum Group specifies. Consistency is the commercial point: a client comparing candidates should be comparing the candidates, not working around six different document layouts.

Because this runs on our own platform rather than a bespoke build, the deployment was considerably faster than developing from scratch, and the work concentrated on the customer’s particular format requirements rather than on rebuilding a foundation that already existed.

Hundreds of resumes processed into a single specified format.

Related solution: document intelligence with Optira

Optira is ThirdEye Data’s document intelligence platform. It extracts information from documents, classifies them, converts them between formats and lets people question them conversationally, turning material that only a person could read into something a system can act on.

It exists because the same problem kept appearing in different industries with the same shape. A staffing firm needs hundreds of resumes in one format. An accounting practice needs bank statements and invoices in a form its systems can consume and its people can question in plain English. An IT services business needs the same resume problem solved on the other side of the world. In each case a bespoke build would have spent most of its budget on foundations that are identical every time. Deploying Optira means the work goes into what is actually specific to that customer, which is usually the output format, the vocabulary, and the integration, and the deployment takes weeks rather than months.
